DECENTRALIZATION OF ENERGY PRODUCTION
Energy production is changing faster and faster. There is a focus on renewable energy sources and energy decentralization. Energy companies have adjusted their energy mix to make greater use of renewable or sustainable energy sources.
But the volatile production of green energy requires a special approach. Peak power plants must accommodate fluctuations, and industry must invest in microgrids to secure their own production
INCREASING DEMAND FOR ELECTRICITY
The demand for electricity continues to rise. To eliminate CO2, coal-fired power plants are no longer allowed and cars must be electrified. All this requires a huge increase in electricity demand.
Nuclear power plants were phased out, but this view is now being revised. The amount of green energy is steadily increasing, but is too unstable due to the influence of instability of solar and wind.
Major investments are needed to save the climate and meet the rising demand for electricity.
IMPLEMENTATION OF RENEWABLE ENERGY
Renewable energy has become indispensable in our industry. Advanced microgrid installations are needed to make the high investments profitable. Industry must go for the right approach with the right installations and controls.
SDM-Projects is a leader in critical energy for a reason. They have been a leader in Microgrid and energy critical installations for many years.
INFRASTRUCTURE FOR ELECTRIFICATION OF CARS
The obligation to electrify the fleet makes it urgent to invest in well-controlled intelligent EV chargers. But your company's entire infrastructure must also be addressed.
What capacities do you need to charge, what transformers should you install?
Definitely don't forget to connect the EV charging system to the Microgrid, asset control and complete control of the power grid.
A good EMS such as the SmartKit is necessary to achieve high efficiency.
DIGITALIZATION OF THE WORLD WITH DATA CENTERS
The energy consumption of data centers has increased significantly in recent years and represents a growing share of global electricity consumption. According to the International Energy Agency (IEA), data centers will consume between 240 and 340 terawatt hours (TWh) globally by 2022, representing about 1 to 1.3% of total global electricity demand.
Other sources, however, report much higher percentages. For example, Schneider Electric states that data centers are responsible for 2 to even 4% of global energy consumption, amounting to 400 to 800 TWh, depending on whether only large data centers or also edge locations are included.
Some estimates even suggest that the ICT sector accounts for more than 10% of global energy consumption.
CONTROL OF ACTIVE AND REACTIVE ENERGY FLOWS
As the demand for energy increases and we produce more green energy, other problems are around the corner. It becomes vital to identify active and reactive energy flows and intervene where necessary.
We need energy-critical plants that can balance both active and reactive energy by producing or absorbing it. One such solution is UPD from SDM-Projects.
Microgrids - Energy communities with parallel grid and island operation
Microgrid installations are becoming indispensable. They must be able to operate in parallel on the grid as well as in island mode.
The exchange of energy between companies and industrial parks should also become possible to stabilize the flow of energy.
